Biography
Dr. Patel completed his medical school at LECOM in Erie, Pennsylvania prior to his residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then went to complete his GI training at Ascension St John hospital in Michigan before finding his way to Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where he completed his interventional GI training.
He is currently employed by the GI Alliance, which is currently the largest private practice group in America comprising over 800 physicians and he serves as the Section Chief of Gastroenterology at Ascension St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois and the Medical Director of the Lincoln Park Endoscopy Center in Chicago, Illinois as well as the Chairman of the Ascension GI Joint Operating Committee of Illinois.
He is also an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is truly passionate about functional GI disorders. He is a published author on congenital sucrase-isomaltase deficiency and is currently completing a multicentre clinical trial on congenital sucrase-isomaltase deficiency through the GI Health Foundation.
